What Should I Do About an Arrest Warrant?
If it has come to your attention that there may be a warrant out for your arrest, you should not ignore it. Instead, contact a lawyer immediately to help you determine whether there is a warrant, what it is for and the bail amount.
In some cases, an attorney can take you directly to the court to get the arrest warrant cleared so that you do not need to spend any time in jail. Attorney Craig Sturm can request that the judge lower the bail or even grant you a release. By taking the initiative of going to the court, you can gain the judge's favor and avoid an embarrassing arrest in front of family, friends or coworkers.
Is a Plea Bargain Right for Me?
Many criminal cases are resolved outside the courtroom through a plea bargain. This involves the prosecution offering the defendant reduced penalties in exchange for pleading guilty to lesser charges.
This is a good option for some because it allows them to avoid a trial and much harsher penalties. However, in some cases, a plea bargain may not be the best option. Attorney Craig Sturm takes pride in taking clients' cases to trial to help them achieve a “not guilty” verdict so they do not have to face any penalties at all. In addition, they do not need to worry about a conviction on their record, which could make it difficult to obtain work, education, or loans.
